A reading of Circus Girl by Clare Pernice
When a little girl plays dress up in her leotard and socks she becomes ‘Circus Girl’, star of the show. Even her toys morph into her dreamscape of circus acts. At each page turn she jumps and tumbles, flies through the air, juggles, spins, balances and contorts. Vibrant and winsome, modern and timeless, the illustrations and words convey a captured childhood moment with directness and simplicity.

Meet Robbi and Matthew! Today they will share with you their book Everywhere, Wonder.  Follow along as they tell the story of a little boy who sets out on a journey to discover the variety and beauty of his world—from the pyramids of Egypt to a dusty footprint on the Moon to the wonders to be found outside his bedroom window. Whether chasing a lost balloon or riding your bike down endless road, there are stories to discover, dream about, and share.

Author/illustrator, husband/wife duo Matthew Swanson and Robbi Behr are co-creators of the exuberantly illustrated mystery series The Real McCoys and the picture books Sunrise SummerBabies Ruin Everything, and Everywhere, Wonder—in addition to 60 or so self-published books for children and adults. They spend their summers running a commercial salmon fishing operation on the Alaskan tundra and the rest of the year writing books, visiting schools, speaking at conferences, and living in the hayloft of an old barn on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with their four kids and no pets.

Robbi and Matthew share a downloadable companion booklet to Everywhere, Wonder, (My Book of Wonder) which prompts kids to notice the world around them and then create (and “publish”) an illustrated journal of their experiences and observations!! http://bit.ly/WonderBooklet
