What Do We Mean When We Talk About Emptiness
Medium: Reduction Linocut

A series of linocut illustrations for the Wellcome Collection, a museum for medical research in London, for an article on new psychological research into the feeling of Emptiness. For centuries, artists, poets, and musicians have described feels of Emptiness in themselves, but until recently these descriptions have been ignored by medical science, with doctors often ascribing their patients’ descriptions of Emptiness as vague feelings of depression.

New research has found hundreds of consistent, chronic cases of this feeling of Emptiness, which psychologists now believe is a symptom of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder or Borderline Personality Disorder.
