The second in a series of Architectural Heritage chocolate boxes features the old Registry Office in Stratford, built in 1910. The building faces an uncertain future (the local County Council, who owns the property, has voted to demolish it; City Council will ultimately decide whether to approve or reject a demolition permit. This illustration was commissioned to raise public awareness of heritage preservation. The fox is borrowed from Winslow Homer’a famous 1893 painting FOX HUNT.
