Book review illustration for The Nation Magazine, Books & Arts. To create this piece, I researched Vladimir Sorokin’s work and read his latest novel, Their Four Hearts for inspiration. The burning Trans-Siberian Railway is a metaphor of not only the novel but also the USSR on fire in the late 1980s/early 1990s.
