Editorial illustration on “The Transformations of Pinocchio” by Joan Acocella.
The article is about how the Pinocchio story that most people know is very different from the original tale by Carlo Collodi.
The structure of the image is inspired by early century classic book covers, the vignettes representing the most gothic and unexpected scenes from the original Pinocchio story.
In my illustration I wanted to give the appeal of vintage book’s illustrations so I used handprinted textures and I reproduced the feeling of woodcut illustration both with colors and lines.
