This is my second in a series of wordless revisionist fairytales. The first was “Red,” a take on Red Riding Hood. “Gold” is loosely based on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but in my version, after preparing a surprise soup for the bears, the little girl is revealed to be a part of the bear family. The idea is to challenge the reader’s expectations about what a family is. Our bears could represent any family, anywhere.
