Omer Aziz’s coming-of-age memoir tackles race, class, assimilation, identity, and upward mobility in the West; the assignment for this cover was to incorporate an illustrative portrait of the author and hint at the themes of the book. The bold ink and color washes create divisions, alluding to the feeling of living between worlds. Brown Boy will be published in April 2023.
