SI Wishes Our Esteemed Deputy Director Kate Feirtag a Fond Farewell, Much Thanks, and Happy Days Ahead as she Steps into Retirement on May 20th and Congratulates Lindsay Compton on her Promotion as the new Deputy Director

On behalf of the Society of Illustrators Board of Directors and Staff, we wish our esteemed Deputy Director Kate Feirtag a fond farewell, much thanks, and happy days ahead as she prepares to retire from her SI leadership position on May 20th. Kate has been an invaluable resource and creative problem-solver over the past 18 years of her unwavering services and dedication to the Society.

Kate has always stepped into her various roles as Membership Coordinator (2007-2009), Exhibition Director (2009-2015), Director of Communications and External Relations (2015-2023), and Deputy Director (2023-2025) with grace, positivity, and purpose. Throughout her tenure, she brought energy, thoughtfulness, and a deep commitment to advancing SI’s mission, growing our community, and strengthening our long-term stability. We are especially grateful for her extraordinary contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she helped reimagine how we presented our exhibitions and programs in a virtual format.

We encourage you to reach out with your well-wishes as Kate steps into this next chapter focused on new adventures and personal passions. She’ll remain in touch during the transition and can still be reached at kate@societyillustrators.org. While she may be retiring from her official role, we’re excited that she’ll remain a lifelong member and friend.

Kate will be sorely missed, but we truly wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We are pleased to announce that her longtime colleague and SI Director of Programs and Partnerships Lindsay Compton will step into the Deputy Director position beginning June 1st. Please join us in congratulating Lindsay by emailing her at lindsay@societyillustrators.org.
