Virtual Saturday Stories Featuring Award Winning illustrator ABBEY BRYANT

Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.

Meet acclaimed illustrator Abbey Bryant in her art studio! Abbey will share her behind the scenes about her illustrations, followed by reading her featured book, Same Love, Different Hug written by Sarah Hovorka. Follow along with Abbey as she teaches you to draw self portraits in her signature, cartoon style! Participants will make a paper-folding ‘hug’ card. Engaging for kids age 5-10, with just basic drawing supplies needed, scissors, paper and pencils.

Good for all ages 5 and up. 

About the artist:

Abbey Bryant is a NYC-based award-winning illustrator. With her BFA in Children’s Book Illustration, her notable illustrated books include Nautilus award winner Hazel Mist, Hypnotist as well as an Enchanted Fairy House Kit with Scholastic’s Klutz! Most days she can be found around the city drawing New Yorkers, filling her sketchbook with stories. She creates painterly, soft and textured work perfect for her sweet storytelling and memorable characters.Her book Same Love, Different Hug, holds a close place in her heart for its important message.
