Colors of Autumn: Botanical Illustration for Kids

$10.00 – $20.00Join us for a special Botanical Illustration Workshop designed for young artists! This workshop will begin with an inspiring tour of the American Society of Botanical Artists 27th Annual International Exhibition. Participants will explore beautiful works of art and draw inspiration from nature’s most intricate details.Â
After the tour, participants will dive into a hands-on workshop led by illustrator Christiane Fashek. The workshop will focus on autumnal themes, and students will have the chance to observe real-life subjects like apples, gourds, and autumn leaves to enhance their coloring techniques and drawing skills.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to sharpen their observation skills and dive into the world of botanical art!
All workshop materials are provided. Great for children ages 5-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult.Â
About the instructor
Christiane is a botanical artist specializing in colored pencil. Her recent work focuses on lichens, and she uses scale, perspective, and color to highlight their fascinating features. Christiane is an instructor at various botanical gardens and offers workshops in person and virtually. She was awarded ASBA’s 2022 Esther Plotnick Artist Grant to teach elementary school students about lichens and botanical art and received the ASBA 2023 Lizzie Sanders New Artist Award.Â
Her work is currently on view at the Society of Illustrators/ASBA 27th International, the New York Botanical Garden’s Fifth Triennial, and the Hunt Institute.
