The memoir is about growing up under Hitler, and how a quiet suburb of Berlin slowly developed to be dominated by Nazi sympathizers. Partly a deeply personal story, partly a description of a society in dark transformation, I wanted to address a subdued mood, how this change–for many people considered positive at the time–sort of leaked in everywhere.
