Spreads from the picture book “A Is For Oboe”, written by Lera Auerbach and Marilyn Nelson. For this poetic introduction to the classic orchestra, each “Letter” was treated as an individual illustration, which also had to complement the other pages. We wanted to create a book for kids and adults alike, so the illustrations try to walk the line between sophistication and playfulness. I tried to let my imagination run with the assignment of illustrating the phenomenon we call “music”.
