Virtual Saturday Stories featuring illustrator X. Fang

May 18 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.

Meet Taiwanese author and illustrator X.Fang from her studio in Maine where she will share a behind the scenes look at how she created her debut picture book Dim Sum Palace, an imaginative and fantastical story inspired by her love for Dim Sum! She will read her beautiful book that School Library Journal calls – “A savory delight for young readers who enjoy dreaming about food as much as eating it.” Then share a fun drawing workshop related to her book. Pencils, coloring pencils and paper are all that is needed for participants to follow along!

Good for all ages 5 and up.

X. Fang is a visual artist and maker of books for young readers. Born in Taichung, Taiwan, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she now lives in rural Maine with her husband, son, and a dog named Pamela. X. Fang’s debut picture book Dim Sum Palace, which the New York Times called “sumptuous,” was the winner of the 2023 Society of Illustrators’ Dilys Evans Founders Award.
