‘Bob Spit: We Do Not Like People’ Screening + Cartoon Fair
February 3 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$7.00 – $15.00We’ve teamed up with the Latin American Film Center to feature the lesser known gem of Brazilian stop-motion animation, ‘Bob Spit: We Do Not Like People,’ directed by Cesar Cabral in 2021.
The film centers on Bob Spit, a comic book character, who resides in a post-apocalyptic desert within the mind of his creator, the legendary Brazilian cartoonist Angeli. When Angeli decides to end Bob’s existence, the rebellious punk emerges from the wasteland to face his creator. Dr. Bruno Guaraná will lead a post-screening Q&A, offering insights into the film and Angeli’s impact through his expertise in Latin American and Brazilian Cinema and Documentary Studies.
Explore the cartoonist book fair before and after the screening, featuring works from eight Latin American illustrators, including Nate Garcia, Sandy Jimenez, Mark Saldana, Julio Anta, Daisy Ruiz, Pepita Sandwich, Jose Berrio, and Carlo Qusipe. The fair will also include the Oto Reifschneider Art gallery, featuring the works of modern and contemporary Brazilian art.
