SATURDAY PICTURE BOOK SPOTLIGHT featuring author and illustrator Fiona Woodcock

$10.00 – $35.00The Society of Illustrators welcomes award winning author and illustrator Fiona Woodcock from London, England. Fiona will be featuring her latest picture book Silver Linings, a funny story about friendship, overcoming anxiety and staying positive. Pip and Parker are best friends who do everything together. When Pip makes a mistake, Parker is always there to see the bright side. But what happens when Parker needs a little encouragement, too? Find out when Fiona reads her book and shares how she writes and creates art for her picture books. During the workshop participants will learn about character and story ideas and themes and create their own artwork inspired by the book. All art materials and a signed personalized book for each family are included in the registration. Good for ages 5 and up.
$35 includes admission and workshop (including signed book and art supplies) for 1 adult + 1 child. One book per family. Additional siblings are $10/each.
About the Artist
Fiona Woodcock is a British, London based illustrator and author of picture books. After graduating from Glasgow School of Art, Fiona worked for many years in the world of animated films and commercials, before discovering her love of writing and illustrating books. Her debut book Hiding Heidi was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Award, as were A Dot in the Snow written by Corrinne Averiss and the bestselling The Snow Dragon by Abi Elphinstone. Look was the winner of the prestigious AOI World Illustration Awards 2019 (Children’s Books / Professional category).
Fiona loves to combine storytelling, pattern, character design and hand drawn typography. She creates her unique illustrations with children’s blow pens, rubber stamps, cutting stencils and experimenting with printing techniques. 2023 is the 4th year that Fiona has been selected for the Original Art show.
