Illustrators 66 – Part 1

January 31 - March 14

Featuring works in Advertising, Institutional, Uncommissioned, Surface/Product Design, and Animation Categories.

The Museum of Illustration at the Society of Illustrators is proud to present Illustrators 66, an annual exhibit featuring the most outstanding works of the year by leading contemporary illustrators worldwide. Voted on by a prestigious international jury of renowned illustrators, art directors, and designers, the Annual provides a platform to our global community to express, through illustration, the events and movements of our times. Documented through artists’ visual narratives, the Annual has become an important reflection of the past year and an archive of recent history for future generations to enjoy.

The Annual exhibit is hosted in two parts. Part 1 features work in the Uncommissioned, Advertising, Institutional, and Surface/Product Design categories. Part 2 features work in the Book and Editorial categories. Works that were juried into the Animation category are featured throughout the duration of the entire exhibit in the lower gallery Screening Room. Gold and Silver medals are awarded by the jury in each category.

Works featured in the Uncommissioned category includes all self-generated work such as portfolio samples, sourcebook ads, and uncommissioned stock that are currently unpublished except as promotion for the artist or artist’s representative. Gold medals are awarded to Sheya Chen for “Yesterday Once More”, Heng Liu for “Going to the Beach”, and Miriam Martincic for “Unrequited”. Silver medals are awarded to Jody Hewgill for “Apollo”, Dorothy Luo for “Luna’s Found”, and Wenjing Yang for “Apotheosis”.
