Bridge the Divide: Exploring Disagreement

April 3 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$7.00 – $15.00

Join us for a conversation between acclaimed author and illustrators Nani Brunini and Claudia Rueda

The event will begin with a presentation by Nani Brunini of her debut book, Disagreement, a whimsical wordless picture book about ways to navigate through conflicts, polarization and miscommunication. She will take the audience through the making of her book – from the initial idea to its warm worldwide reception. She will share her inspirations, creative process and how her personal experiences with the subject matter influenced the final outcome. Nani will also talk about the challenges of making a silent book with an abstract and complex theme for a very young audience.

Afterwards Nani will be joined by Claudia Rueda for a conversation delving deeper into the making of the book. Following their discussion there will be a Q&A with the audience and a book signing.

$15 general, $10 members, $7 seniors/students

Nani Brunini was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1976. She studied Fine Arts at the University of São Paulo, Industrial Design at UFPE in Recife, and has a master’s degree in Design Management from Cambridge University. After working on design research and strategies for ten years, she returned to brushes and pencils and now illustrates posters, packaging, icons, and websites. Disagreement is her debut book, originally published in Portugal and now in North America.
