Society of Illustrators & Rockstar Games Offer
New Illustration Workshop for
NYC High School Visual Art Majors

SI/Rockstar Games Will Eisner Week Comix Workshop led by artist Josh Neufeld on March 8, 2024.

New York, NY (April 25, 2024) – The Society of Illustrators (SI) and Rockstar Games are pleased to offer a new Illustration Workshop for New York City high school visual art majors on Thursday, May 16, from 10-11:30 am. This collaboratively designed 90-minute course led by Greg Opalinski from the Rockstar Games illustration team will be held free-of-charge at SI’s historic Museum of Illustration located at 128 East 63rd Street in Manhattan. The program is expected to serve 30 seniors interested in pursuing careers in the video game industry.

Working in conjunction with NYC High School of Art & Design faculty to meet their curricular needs, this hands-on workshop will focus on various ways to integrate photo references within illustrations via specific drawing assignments and follow-up feedback sessions. All participants will receive free art supplies funded by Rockstar Games.

This is the final workshop offered during the SI and Rockstar Games 2023-2024 High School Partnership Program. Previous admission-free illustration art courses were taught by Viktor Koen, Illustration & Cartooning Department Head at New York School of Visual Arts, on November 15; Melanie Reim, former School of Art and Design Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology, on November 16; Leslie Cober, SI President, and Professor of Illustration at FIT and Western Connecticut State University, on November 30; and Josh Neufeld, nonfiction graphic artist/writer, on March 1 and March 8. These programs have served a total of 125 NYC High School of Art Design students to-date.
