Kristian Henson of Hardworking Goodlooking
Medium: Digital

(Killed project) At the LA Art Book Fair one year, I came across Hardworking Goodlooking. A small independent publishing house centered on tackling the decolonization of Philippine aesthetics. I was floored. I purchased a book, Filipino Folk Foundry, which documented and studied the vernacular culture of Filipino hand-lettering seen on spaces such as taxis, signage, and jeepneys. As a first-generation Filipino-American working in the design industry, it was my first time seeing Filipino contributions to design being valued and documented.
