Through My Eyes With A Pencil

June 27, 2019

Through My Eyes is the illustrated history of some of the greatest sports stars and athletes in the United States. Illustrator and author Dwayne Lester compiles 100 of the greatest black athletes in this book, accompanying each illustration with personal memories, statistics, and stories about the struggles these athletes faced and overcame. Though each of these extraordinary men and women faced challenges from the privileged white America, they persevered to become the greatest in their field. Their stories and triumphs are an inspiration to all.

Join Dwayne Lester for an evening conversation on how this book was created along with accounts from his life and work.

Lauderdale, and Pittsburgh. The Columbus College of Art and Design, Macomb Community College, in Warren MI, and finally Southern New Hampshire University. He started his own company called Unforgettable Images, now Dwayne Lester Art. He has worked almost 20 years in the Federal Government winning numerous awards for his work. His art has been a journey of self-discovery and self-expression as a man who celebrates the African American experience and their achievements in sports and music history. His memories of music and sports are what he taps into when creating his art.
