Special Sketch Night: Military Working Dogs
August 30, 2018
Join us for a sketch night with two very special models. On August 30th, we will be joined by airmen from the 87th Security Forces Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, along with two Air Force military working dogs.
An Air Force military working dog (MWD) handler is responsible for protecting and defending a base with their loyal canine partner by their side. With a strong passion and respect for dogs, a MWD handler personally trains their assigned dog in law enforcement, including how to detect drugs and explosives. Together, they are a highly trained team ready for anything. More than 500 dogs are trained every year in a 120-day program at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, and they serve between 10 to 12 years. Ranging from German Shepherds to the Belgian Malinois, military working dogs come in all shapes and sizes. Each dog is assigned a rank that is one higher than their handler. As the handler gets promoted, so does his or her dog. When it is time for Military Working Dogs to retire, they can be adopted either by their handlers or a civilian family.
$20 General Admission
Special Sketch Nights include complimentary small plates buffet.
