Virtual Saturday Stories featuring Melissa Sweet

December 17, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.

Join award winning illustrator Melissa Sweet from her studio in Portland, Maine as she shares her collage and watercolor process, and how the natural world inspires her work (and play!) Melissa will talk about her latest book, Celia Planted A Garden: The Story of Celia Thaxter And Her Island Garden by Gary D. Schmidt and Phyllis Root, and lead a workshop demonstrating how to make three folded birds and one pop-up using simple paper structures.

Materials needed- drawing pencil, paper, colored construction paper, or any type of card stock from old cards or a recycled cereal box you have on hand. A glue stick, scissors and any of your favorite art supplies including colored pencils, ribbon and buttons.

PDF to download included in registration.
