Saturday Workshop for Teenagers and Adults: Featuring Ingrid Godon
April 18, 2020
We are delighted to have Ingrid Godon join us from Belgium. Ingrid will present how she creates her illustrations and tell participants about her artistic background. Selected poems will be read from I Wish, followed by a portrait illustration workshop using a variety of art materials. All materials and a signed copy of the book are included. Good for teenagers and adults.
An unforgettable book, filled with mysterious ponderings, I Wish pairs 33 poems with a gallery of portraits inspired by old-fashioned photographs, faces staring out at us with the serious, veiled expressions of a bygone time. Ingrid Godon is a renowned children’s book illustrator from Belgium. Her evocative drawings are charged with great seriousness and strangeness, with immense compassion for ordinary people.
Ingrid Godon was awarded the Boekenpauw Award and the Gouden Griffel in 2001 for her book Wachten op Matroos. She also won the Boekenpauw Award in 2015 for Ik denk. She was nominated three times for the ALMA Award and was named in the 2016 IBBY Honour List. The original publication of I Wish was launched with an exhibit of Ingrid’s original dra
