Saturday Stories: Illustrator-led Workshops for Children & Families : Featuring Mika Song
March 16, 2019
Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud and hands-on workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.
On March 16th, join acclaimed illustrator, Mika Song who will show how she created her illustrations, taking inspiration from comics and impressionism. Mika will demonstrate the watercolor and ink techniques she used to illustrate the characters in her latest book, A Friend for Henry by Jenn Bailey. Participants will be guided through the process to create their own watercolor and ink portraits using similar techniques. The focus will be on emphasizing the emotion and liveliness of the drawing using sumi-e brush lines in a cartoon style. Great for ages 5 and up!
$25 covers admission and workshop for 1 adult + 1 child. Additional children are $10/each.
While you’re here, visit our dining room and patio for lunch or refreshments. Open 11:00am – 3:00pm.
