Join acclaimed illustrator, Timothy Banks for a presentation and reading from his latest book, Nian, The Chinese New Year Dragon, followed by a hands-on dragon making adventure workshop. Timothy’s illustrations capture the excitement and fury of the dragon, Nian, along with the determination of the valiant Mei who leads her village in standing up to this colossal monster. With the spirit of Mei as inspiration, Timothy will guide you through combining craft paper, drawing media and a generous helping of glue to fashion an imaginative dragon to bring home. He will also sign a copy of his book for each family. Great for all ages 5 and up!
Timothy Banks’s work has graced the pages of many children’s books such as A Valentine For Frankenstein, There’s a Norseman in the Classroom, Michael Dahl’s Grimm and Gross series and covers for Enid Blyton’s Five-Finder Outer Series (released in the UK). From an early age, Timothy discovered the magic of creating his own worlds through art. Years later, as a freshman in college he would illustrate his first published children’s book, No Pets Allowed, beginning his odyssey as a professional artist. His children’s work has been recognized by 3×3, Creative Quarterly, the American Marketing Association and AIGA. And his editorial work was awarded gold from this year’s Society of Illustrators LA competition.
