Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud Zoom workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.
Join Caldecott Medalist picture book illustrator and author, Matthew Cordell, as he reads from his newest picture book, Hello, Neighbor! The Kind and Caring World of Mister Rogers. Following the story time, Matthew will lead an art workshop to demonstrate how he creates the pictures in his books–with old fashioned pen and ink dip pens and watercolor paint.
This program is free during the Society of Illustrators Original Art Exhibition: Showcasing the Fine Art of Children’s Picture Book Illustration. Thank you to The Bruce J.Heim Foundation for supporting The Original Art. Their generous gift and belief that books play a vital role in the development of a child’s imagination and dreams greatly aids our educational programming for K-12 students. Free with registration.
