Virtual Saturday Stories: Monthly illustrator-led workshops for children & families: Featured Artist Victoria Tentler-Krylov

May 15 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud and hands-on workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.

Virtually meet acclaimed illustrator Victoria Tentler- Krylov as she reads and shows how she illustrated her latest book Cyclops of New York. Cyclops shows readers to be brave and explore the world because, really, you never know what you might find!  Victoria will talk about developing the character of Cyclops, his sheep family, and the most adventurous sheep of all – Eugene! She will also explain how she made the City of New York a character in the book, too. Victoria will follow her presentation with a drawing workshop inspired by the book. For all ages 5 and up.  Participants will need drawing paper, pencils or markers, and watercolor paints and brushes.

For all ages 5 and up.

This program is free to attend. Thank you to The Bruce J.Heim Foundation for supporting this event. Their generous gift and belief that books play a vital role in the development of a child’s imagination and dreams greatly aids our educational programming for K-12 students.

About the Artist:

Victoria is a trained and practicing architect, as well as a children’s and editorial illustrator, who grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She studied architecture and urban design at Cooper Union and Columbia University. Her inspiration is fueled by urban landscapes but also by fantasy, possibility, and imagination.
