Join us this Friday for a very special afternoon with illustrator & master etcher Arthur Geisert! In this session of PICTURING: Diving Deep into Illustrated Books, our co-hosts @enchantedlion will be tuning in from Elkader, Iowa, as they visit Geisert in his hometown to celebrate the launch of his latest book, How the Big Bad Wolf Got His Comeuppance.
80 years old as of last month, the award-winning children’s book creator will show us around his studio on Elkader’s Main Street, including his extraordinary copper-plate press. Storytelling and honing his craft over a decades-long career in illustration, Geisert is a reference and a force. Come with us as we learn more about this artist’s life-long fascination with drawing pigs, the etching technique he engineered to capture vibration and motion in his images, and much more! Sharing about the inspiration he finds in the tall-tales and rural landscapes of Iowa and the new techniques he’s exploring for his next book, Geisert’s talk on process promises to be full of anecdotes and insights, from a true master of his craft.
