The Artist’s Experience: from Brotherman to Batman Juneteenth Opening Night Celebration

June 16 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

A unique and historic exhibit is coming to the Society of Illustrators featuring the work of no less than sixteen Black sequential artists from all over the comic book spectrum. Many of whom have been quietly working in the industry for years without receiving much recognition. “The Artist’s Experience: from Brotherman to Batman” on display from June 15, 2022 to Oct 29, 2022 at the Museum hopes to change that. The exhibit is curated by culture journalist and writer Karama Horne (Marvel’s Protectors of Wakanda), and Award-Winning artist Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves, Red Hood) whose work will also be featured. Learn more about the exhibit.

A Juneteenth Opening Night Celebration will be hosted on June 16th to honor these artists and their work.

This event is free to attend. Cash bar and refreshments available.

RSVP required. Limited tickets available. Please notify the Society if you need to cancel your reservation so we may allow others to attend.
